Welcome back, folks!
in this episode we're diving into the fascinating functions of the gall bladder.
Let's start with its uniqueness. The gall bladder is an extraordinary yang organ, which is quite intriguing. Normally, yin organs store substances, but the gall bladder stores bile, blurring the line between yin and yang.
Speaking of extraordinary organs, the gall bladder is one of the six extraordinary yang organs. They stand out because they possess both yin and yang characteristics. These organs store and are hollow, making them exceptional.
So, what does the gall bladder do? Function #1: It stores and excretes bile received from the liver to aid in digestion. This remarkable process helps break down fat, transforming it into fatty acids. From a TCM perspective, the gall bladder's fire, derived from the ministerial fire at the gate of life, warms the spleen and intestines, promoting digestion.
Moving on to function #2: The gall bladder controls decisiveness. If you think about the term "gall," it signifies bold behavior. People with abundant gall exude self-confidence and have no trouble making decisions. The gall bladder plays a vital role in being decisive, complementing the liver's planning abilities.
Function #3: The gall bladder controls the sinews. While the liver nourishes the sinews with blood, the gall bladder ensures their proper movement. It travels along the side of our body, supplying Qi to the sinews for smooth and flexible joint motion.
So there you have it—the gall bladder, a fascinating organ with multifaceted functions. Don't forget the influential point, Gall Bladder 34, known for its impact on the sinews.
